Due to Clark’s enervated physical condition, collecting imagery with this and the piece 12 Frames of Isolation represent the limits of her physical capabilities at the time as well as her homebound isolation. She refers to these works as a performance relics. This piece frames the artist’s obsession with collecting imagery of women and using the visual language of the fashion world to explore gender roles and sexual stereotypes. In 2009, Clark was finally well enough to finish the piece by encasing the images and digitizing the pages. She continued in this vein of inquiry with her performance/video pieces Butterfly’s Shoe Fetish (2009) and The Look Book series (2011).
