In this performance/video ritual, the artist plunges down into a primal altered state. Set in silence and cast in a red glow, ferocious, yet self-conscious, erotic and humorous, she rides an edge between breakdown and strength. In contrast to Clark’s later ritual performances which seek to evoke transmutation for the audience members, her earlier ritual works were more inwardly focused to bring transformation to herself.
